Sam Goldsmith, Crooked Street Press intern writer, missed the “best happy hour ever” last night as he decided that taking care of his kids would be a better way to spend his time. Owner Fritz (28) and assistant Dan Wheeler (really old) had planned many days in advance to meet at the Royal Exchange Bar in San Francisco to have some drinks and to celebrate the success of the RACKAfracka cartoon which has carried the website thus far.
“There was much laughter.” Fritz proclaimed. “After the first 3 rounds of FREE beers came out the fun really began.”
“I can’t think of another time when I had this much fun!” Wheeler said. “I think my wedding is a close 2nd to last night.”
The bartender at the Royal Exchange, Phil Em-up Johnson, reported that everyone in the bar got involved in the party, something he hadn’t seen in years. “People were crowding around Fritz and Wheeler waiting to hear another funny and embarrassing story about Sam.”
Jill Jenkins attended the bar last night. “I loved the story about the car battery and the olive oil! That one was a classic!”
“These stories make me wish that I could meet Sam and make all his wishes come true.” Roxanne screamed. “I love Sam…but alas he is not here so I will go home to my cats and eat chocolate.”
Reportedly Sam went home skipping what many considered the “Best Happy Hour of All Time” to work on some math problems with his son.
“You can do math like any day man.” Seth Harnish said. “He could do math like tomorrow, or the next day, or like the day after that man. Why would he pick today to do math man?”
Although many were disappointed that Sam skipped happy hour for math, the party did go on without him. This act of defiance will probably help Fritz and Wheeler make the most critical choice to publish Sam’s stories or not.
